Who I Am

Being a creative person has always been a part of who I am. I was probably the only 12 year old in Ireland who was re-painting and re-decorating their room on a monthly basis to reflect how I was feeling (I once hand drew question marks covering all the walls!!). That creative streak led me to interior design, where I qualified as an enthusiastic 22 year old with an idealistic vision of what the industry would offer. But somehow life got in the way, and I lost touch with that part of me. I changed industry, re-skilled and slowly lost touch with my passion.

However, as for so many, it’s in moments of personal crises that we choose to look back within ourselves, and re-examine our priorities. After a miscarriage, I found I needed to express myself creatively again. It was October, and I gathered together materials from my garden to create an autumnal wreath. Once I had finished, pausing to reflect, I realised that my journey with creating beautiful things using flowers and grasses was only just beginning.

Moving back to working with my hands gave me a sense of calm that I could not find elsewhere. I re-kindled that spark that I had lost, and found a way through a tough time.

That spark has become Fox Tales. I love to work with people, taking time to connect and understand them, so that we can create something beautiful together. It gives me such joy to see people look at what we created and say “wow”. I used the word “Tales” in my company name because I wanted to reflect the bespoke nature of my pieces - each one tells a story of the people involved, and how it came to life.

Every piece I create has the same basic principles as a foundation - the best materials, an unrelenting attention to detail, a personal connection with the client and my unique design aesthetic. The results are high quality, bespoke pieces that will last years with the right care and attention.
